    The Generation of Jeremiah

    2019-01-18

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” - Philippians 4:13

In a forest there lived a bear family. Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and three cubs named Fuzzy, Wuzzy, and Buzzy. Buzzy is the smallest and clumsiest among them. Every morning, Papa Bear went down to the river to catch some fish. But one day, Papa Bear was sick. Papa Bear asked Buzzy to go to the river and helped him to catch some fish. But Buzzy said “I’m too small to catch fishes. I might slip down and fall into the river.” Papa Bear smiled and said to Buzzy “I believe you can do it.” So Buzzy grabbed a bucket and walked to the river. On the way he met his brothers. Seeing Buzzy brought a bucket to the river, Fuzzy and Wuzzy teased him and said “Buzzy why are you bringing a bucket instead of your life vest? You will  get drown if you don’t bring one.”

As soon as he arrived at the river bank, he was terrified seeing how the current was very swift. Remembered that Papa Bear said he could do it, Buzzy gathered all his courage and started to catch fishes. And in no time, Buzzy had filled his bucket full of fishes. Coming back home, Papa Bear was proud of him and said “I knew you could do it.”

As in the Bible, there was one man who encountered the same experience as Buzzy. One day God said to Jeremiah he had a job to do, to be a prophet of the nations. But Jeremiah doubted, “Alas, Sovereign Lord. I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

(Jeremiah 1:6). But the Lord said to Jeremiah “Do not say. ‘I am too young.’  You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you.” (Jeremiah 1:7-8).

There are challenges in life that we might think they’re impossible to be accomplished. Like Jeremiah did, we often doubt whether we can do it or not. But listen to God’s word. If He believes we can do it, He will make it happen! As God said to Jeremiah “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:4-5). God knows what we are capable of and has planned special jobs for us to do.

God calls each one of us to serve Him by doing His jobs. We may feel we’re too young to do it, or we worry about what other people think. It doesn’t matter if you are still 8, or 9, or 10 years old, for God can use everyone of you to glorify His name. Don’t be afraid! He will help you and always be with you.

Lord, Father we may be young, but we believe You have great plans for us to do. Help us Lord so we can have the courage to do them. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
