    The Lord Will Provide

    2018-09-09

“I call to God, the Most High, to God who supplies my every need” Psalms 57:2
Jehovah Jireh – “the Lord will provide” – this is one of the many different names of God that can be found in the Old Testament. This name was coined in the book of Genesis, when God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, as a burnt offering in Moriah. Upon reaching Moriah, Abraham obeyed the Lord by building an altar, binding Isaac, and placing him on the wood. However, before Abraham offered Isaac to God, an angel called upon him from heaven – and saw a ram caught in the bushes. He sacrificed that ram as a burnt offering – instead of his son. In this situation, even though Abraham had a tough choice–he wanted to obey God’s command, but did not want to kill his son, Abraham still trusted God. And God provided a way for Abraham to overcome his problem – he provided Abraham with a solution – the ram.

Are you currently waiting or praying for something or for help? Maybe you feel that it has been unanswered - or that you cannot see a way out of your current situation. God wants to remind you that whatever your needs – be it physical, emotional, or anything at all– that He is able to provide you with what you need and will provide you strength during hard times. We just need to have faith – to trust in Him – and obey Him.

It is stated in Isaiah 58:11 that “The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail”.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for being the God that provides. Help us to trust that You will provide us with what we need, and to obey Your commands.
